Nanjing University and University of Southampton Renew Agreement in Virtual Meeting
On the afternoon of June 21, Nanjing University Vice President Lu Yanqing met online with Southampton University Vice President Andrew Atherton. The two sides discussed further deepening cooperation and renewed the memorandum of understanding. Representatives from the International Affairs Office and the School of Arts attended the video conference.
Lu Yanqing first delivered an opening speech. He briefly reviewed the cooperation between the two sides and introduced the recent development of Nanjing University and its new internationalization initiatives. He said that the two universities have a good foundation for cooperation and can further deepen pragmatic cooperation in advantageous disciplines such as optoelectronics, public medicine, coastal ocean sciences, mineral geochemistry and earth system science, and explore more cooperation possibilities based on the construction of new engineering disciplines in Suzhou campus.
Atherton thanked Lu Yanqing for the warm meeting and briefly introduced Southampton’s internationalization concepts and measures. He said that the two schools have very compatible advantageous disciplines and hoped to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the future. Representatives of Southampton School of Arts and Humanities and Winchester School of Art spoke on specific cooperation matters and proposed to deepen exchanges through teacher and student visits, joint student training, summer schools and other forms.
Subsequently, the two sides renewed the cooperation agreement. The signing of this agreement will continue the existing cooperation between the two sides and build an important framework for further deepening exchanges and achieving win-win development.
