Nanjing University and Wuxi City Forge Deeper Cooperation with Signing of Comprehensive Agreement
On April 10, a symposium between Wuxi City and Nanjing University on deepening city-school cooperation was held at the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University. Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, Zhao Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting. The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges and signed an agreement to comprehensively deepen cooperation between the city and the school, focusing on studying and implementing the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, fully implementing the deployment requirements of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, “entering NTU, deepening cooperation, and focusing on developing new productive forces”.
Tan Tieniu pointed out that for a long time, Nanjing University and Wuxi City have had a profound relationship, accumulated a good foundation for cooperation, and achieved fruitful cooperation results. Facing the future, there is broad space and bright prospects for cooperation between the two parties. The two sides’ promotion of deepening cooperation between the city and the school is a pragmatic move to jointly support the new practice of Chinese-style modernization in Jiangsu. It is also an inherent requirement to solidly promote the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics and the high-quality development of Wuxi. Tan Tieniu hopes that both the university and the city will further work together to implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, promote the in-depth integrated development of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation” and “dual chains”, cultural inheritance and innovation, and talent training. He looks forward to Nanjing University and Nanjing University Wuxi City further keeps in mind the entrustment, forges ahead with gratitude, and joins hands to promote the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics and the new practice of Chinese-style modernization in Wuxi, so as to jointly write a new chapter in Jiangsu’s modernization construction of “Strong, Rich, Beautiful and High”, and comprehensively promote the construction of a strong country and the nation with Chinese-style modernization. Make new and greater contributions to the great cause of revival.
Du Xiaogang said that Wuxi and NTU are both a century-old famous industrial and commercial city, a highland for innovation and entrepreneurship, and the other is a century-old first-class university and a fertile ground for scientific and technological talents. They look forward to taking this symposium and signing as a new starting point, leveraging their respective advantages, joining forces, and jointly leveraging their scientific and technological innovation resources. With the advantages of strong complementarity, broad space for industrial cooperation, and rich cultural and educational accumulation, Nanjing University will strive to apply basic research according to local conditions, build a modern industrial system, promote talent cooperation and humanistic development, and promote Nanjing University’s “7291” action and “Strive Forward Action” to be implemented in Wuxi Take root, blossom and bear fruit. At the meeting, Tan Tieniu and Du Xiaogang unveiled the Wuxi Center of Nanjing University’s National Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform. The center will promote relevant leading enterprises in Wuxi, universities and colleges to achieve comprehensive cooperation in “government, industry, academia, research, finance and application” . Tan Zhemin and Zhao Jianjun unveiled the Wuxi Atmospheric Frontier Technology and High-end Equipment Innovation Research Institute of Nanjing University. The institute will promote the establishment of major national scientific and technological infrastructure in Wuxi, improve the atmospheric industry chain, build an industrial ecology, and jointly create “China’s Gas Valley”.
Zhou Wendong and Lu Yanqing signed a city-school comprehensive cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties; at the same time, the atmospheric cutting-edge technology and high-end equipment innovation institute project, the synthetic biology future science center project, the major innovation platform project in the field of water environment, the integrated circuit innovation consortium project, NTU Eight city-school key cooperation projects, including the Science and Technology Park Wuxi Base Project, the Science and Technology Achievements Transformation Investment Fund Project, the Education “Double High” Connection Project, and the Nanjing University Wuxi Industrial Technology AI Empowerment Center Project, have been officially signed.
Zhou Wendong, Vice Mayor of Wuxi City, and Lu Yanqing, Vice President of Nanjing University, respectively introduced Wuxi’s technological innovation and industrial development and the “Nanjing University’s New Practical Action Plan to Comprehensively Support Chinese-style Modernization in Jiangsu”, and put forward specific ideas and plans to further deepen cooperation. A donation ceremony by the Nanjing University Wuxi Alumni Association to the alma mater was also held at the meeting.
The symposium was chaired by Chen Yunsong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University. Leaders of Wuxi City Jiang Min, Xu Feng, Qin Yongxin, Zhou Wendong, Wu Jianyuan, Secretary-General of the Municipal Government Chen Shoubin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Environment of Nanjing University Ren Hongqiang, Assistant to the President of Nanjing University Ding Aijun, as well as relevant units of Wuxi City and Nanjing University Responsible comrades attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, Du Xiaogang and his delegation visited relevant laboratories of Nanjing University to investigate technological innovation, achievement transformation, talent training, etc.
