Nanjing University Delegation Explores New Scientific Research Opportunities in Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone
On July 26, 2024, Lu Yanqing , Vice President of Nanjing University , and a delegation from the Internationalization Office and Shenzhen Research Institute of the University visited the Shenzhen Park Development Bureau of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. Deputy Director Li Huilai and Zhang Xiaoyi, Head of the Industrial Development Department, and Wen Lue, Vice President of Shenzhen Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone Development Co., Ltd. participated in the meeting. The purpose of this visit is to further promote the scientific research cooperation and development of both sides and promote in-depth cooperation in the field of scientific and technological innovation.
During the talks, the two sides had in-depth discussions on aspects such as sharing of scientific research resources, talent exchange and project cooperation.
Lu Yanqing said that Nanjing University attaches great importance to internationalization of education and regards strengthening the interaction between government, industry, academia and research, strengthening internationalization and expanding resources as the focus of this year’s work. As an important technological innovation hub connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone is a key project in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It has unique location advantages and policy advantages, providing a broad platform for both parties to carry out high-level scientific research cooperation and enhance the internationalization of Nanjing University.
Li Huilai warmly welcomed the Nanjing University delegation and gave a detailed introduction to the construction progress and future planning of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. She pointed out that the cooperation zone is committed to building a highland of science and technology innovation with international influence and attracting high-end scientific research resources and talents from around the world. Through innovative institutional arrangements, the cooperation zone provides convenient access and working environment for scientific researchers, and currently more than 30 scientific research institutions have settled in.
The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects. Dean Han Dong introduced the research situation and future development plan of Nanjing University Shenzhen Research Institute, and expressed his willingness to serve as a link for cooperation between Nanjing University and Shenzhen, and further promote the transformation of scientific research results with scientific research institutions and enterprises in the cooperation zone. Deputy Director Cao Yi focused on introducing Nanjing University’s internationalization efforts, and hoped that through the platform of the cooperation zone, the cooperation channels between Nanjing University and Hong Kong and international universities would be further expanded, so that Nanjing University’s internationalization efforts would reach a new level.
During the talks, Vice President Wen Lue introduced the work priorities of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone Development Co., Ltd., and expressed that it would actively support Nanjing University in carrying out scientific research activities in the cooperation zone and provide all-round guarantees for the implementation of cooperation projects between the two sides.
Lu Yanqing emphasized that Nanjing University will actively explore the feasibility of establishing a research institute of Nanjing University in the cooperation zone, relying on the innovative coordination mechanism of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, relying on Nanjing University’s strong foundation in basic scientific research and talent training in China, and relying on Nanjing University’s vast overseas alumni and cooperative university resources abroad, to build the research institute into a platform for cooperation between Nanjing University and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and become a new hot spot for the development of Nanjing University. He pointed out that Nanjing University will contribute to the construction of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone into a world-class scientific research hub.
This visit marks an important step in the cooperation between Nanjing University and the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. In the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen communication and cooperation, give full play to their respective advantages, jointly promote scientific and technological innovation and talent training, and inject new vitality into the scientific and technological development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This meeting not only built a bridge of cooperation for the two sides, but also laid a solid foundation for future specific cooperation projects.
