Nanjing University Hosts 7th ‘Suzhou High-tech Cup’ Career Planning Carnival at Xianlin Campus
On May 26, the opening ceremony and theme activity day of the “Suzhou High-tech Cup” Nanjing University’s 7th Career Planning Carnival were held at Fang Zhaozhou Gymnasium and Career Planning Experience Hall of the Employment Center on Xianlin Campus. The theme of this event was “Improving Quality and Efficiency to Promote Employment and Build Dreams for Youth to Move Forward to the Future”. Zhang Binfeng, the second-level inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and Lu Xiancai, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, attended the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Zhang Binfeng pointed out that Nanjing University has long been at the forefront of national universities in career education and employment services, and has taken solid measures to improve the career development and professional competence of college students, providing good growth support for graduates to “get employed quickly and get a good job”. He emphasized that under the new situation, the total employment pressure and structural contradictions still need to be solved. He hopes that Nanjing University will give full play to its own advantages, actively strengthen the connection between supply and demand, effectively publicize employment policy information, and organize brand activities such as the career planning carnival, so as to guide college students to consciously pursue career development by serving the country and the people, and help graduates find jobs as soon as possible. He sent a message to the students, asking them to establish a correct outlook on employment and career choice, based on their own reality and social needs, clarify their career intentions as soon as possible, and start job hunting as soon as possible to achieve their life dreams.
Lu Xiancai said in his speech that the employment of colleges and universities cannot be separated from the joint efforts of local party and government departments such as education and human resources and the majority of enterprises and institutions. We must always focus on the employment work of schools by gathering high-quality resources from the three parties, working together to make a good combination of punches, and realizing the two-way rush of employers and graduates, and then using high-quality employment to help build new quality productivity. Nanjing University adheres to the national needs and graduate development as the guide, carries out in-depth precision employment guidance, strengthens the mission and responsibility awareness of cultivating students; organizes and carries out refined campus recruitment services, strives to expand cooperation with employers, and strives to cultivate future leading talents and top innovative talents with innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision for all walks of life in the country and society; actively guides graduates to closely combine the realization of self-value with the prosperity of the country, and the employment rate, employment satisfaction and job matching of graduates continue to improve. He emphasized that Nanjing University will continue to implement high-quality employment endeavors, fully serve the national and regional development strategies, strengthen talent supply, and strive to provide talent support for China’s modernization construction.
At the opening ceremony, Lu Xiancai issued appointment letters to a new batch of college students’ career planning mentors and industry consultants. The leaders, employer representatives, career planning mentors and industry consultants, and student representatives at the meeting jointly pressed the button to announce the official launch of this carnival.
Wen Ran, a representative of key employers and deputy director of the Personnel Department of Zijinshan Laboratory, said in his speech that the close integration of scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation is the key to promoting the research of the technical base of new productivity. He hopes that Zijinshan Laboratory can carry out higher-level cooperation with Nanjing University to jointly cultivate more outstanding talents and jointly promote the development of scientific and technological innovation.
Xu Zixiang, a 2024 doctoral student from the School of Physics, shared his experience of exploring career planning and solid growth and advancement in his speech. As he is about to go to the 14th Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation to embark on a new journey of national scientific and technological self-reliance, he will bear in mind NDU’s responsibility of “caring about national affairs and shouldering national responsibilities”, and serve the country wholeheartedly and forge ahead in his new position.
There are four special exhibition areas at the opening ceremony roadshow. The first is the “full-time and internship large-scale job fair exhibition area”, where 114 high-quality employers and employment internship bases such as the Fortune Global 500, China’s top 500, specialized and new enterprises, local party and government agencies, and the Shanghai Alumni Association provide 4,443 full-time positions and 650 internship positions; the second is the “consulting and guidance exhibition area”, where 20 industry consultants, career planning mentors, and career consultants provide nearly 100 students with resume clinics, career planning, job search decisions and other consulting guidance; the third is the “employment student organization style display and peer interaction exhibition area”, where 5 student teams jointly toured and shared resources, and 13 contracted employment, 11 overseas students and 6 selected students from various colleges and departments conducted peer interaction and sharing; the fourth is the “graduate employment quality report exhibition area”, which systematically presents the basic situation of employment and entrepreneurship of graduates from various colleges and departments.
This carnival event was guided by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and received strong support from the Provincial College Admissions and Employment Guidance Service Center, Suzhou High-tech Zone (Huqiu District) Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Nanjing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
After the opening ceremony, the leaders present inspected the event site together and had cordial exchanges with representatives of employers, teachers and students. Deputy secretaries of the Party Committees and counselors of various colleges and departments also actively communicated with employers on site to promote the connection between supply and demand.
In the afternoon of the same day, alumni and senior experts from four key units, CATL, Yaoshi Technology, Huawei, and NIO, attended the face-to-face interview with key employers. As representatives of the key industries of new quality productivity, “new materials, biomedicine, new generation information technology, and new energy”, they exchanged and shared on topics such as industry development, talent demand, and career development suggestions. Human resources experts from Xiamen International Trade Group provided guidance for students on resume preparation, helping them build confidence in job hunting and enhancing their employment initiative and competitiveness.
The Career Planning Carnival is a featured event of our school’s career education and employment guidance, and has been selected as a typical case of employment and entrepreneurship for graduates of ordinary colleges and universities across the country. As a key measure of the “2024 College Graduate Employment Promotion Week”, the main activities of this carnival will last for 2 months. The Employment Center will work with various colleges and departments to carry out nearly 100 activities such as campus recruitment, career exploration, career consultation, planning experience, job hunting training, special events, and corporate visits at the school and college level.
