Nanjing University Hosts Delegation from Huawei Technologies, Led by Director Zha Jun
On the afternoon of July 1, 2024, Nanjing University President and Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Tan Zhemin met with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Director and 2012 Laboratory Director Zha Jun and his delegation in the South Administrative Building of Xianlin Campus. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on further strengthening school-enterprise cooperation.
Li Feng, director of Huawei Nanjing Research Institute, Lu Yanqing, vice president of Nanjing University, and Lu Xiancai, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Nanjing University, attended the meeting and exchanges.
Tan Zhemin first expressed a warm welcome to Zha Jun and his party on behalf of Nanjing University, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. for its long-term support for the development of Nanjing University. He said that from Professor Feng Xinyu of Nanjing University serving as the chief expert of Huawei’s programming language to the extensive participation of various departments and units, the cooperation between Huawei and Nanjing University has shown an increasingly close trend. He hopes that young teachers will face the main battlefield of the industry with a more positive attitude and embrace cooperation with Huawei. At the same time, he expects the school and the enterprise to work in both directions, focusing on the needs of enterprises and the development of the school, by broadening the scope of cooperation and deepening the level of cooperation, promoting the deep integration of industry, academia and research, and jointly writing a new chapter in the development of both sides.
Zha Jun said that the cooperation between Nanjing University and Huawei has been deepening in recent years, and the cooperation model has been constantly innovating. As an important strategic partner of Huawei, Nanjing University hopes that Nanjing University and Huawei can further deepen their cooperation in talent and ecological construction in the future, continuously broaden the breadth and depth of cooperation, and seek common development.

On the same day, the signing ceremony of the “Nanjing University-Huawei Artificial Intelligence Joint Laboratory Phase II” was held at Huang Danian Tea House in Xianlin Campus. Witnessed by Zha Jun, Lu Yanqing and others, Zhou Zhihua, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence of Nanjing University, and Yao Jun, Director of Huawei Noah Laboratory, signed a cooperation agreement.
Lu Yanqing said that the signing of the school-enterprise joint laboratory is an innovative measure to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s “solid promotion of the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation”. He hopes that both the school and the enterprise will take the opportunity of building a joint laboratory, seize cooperation opportunities, tap into co-construction resources, and jointly strengthen the country’s strategic scientific and technological strength and accelerate the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement. Make new and greater contributions! Zha Jun said that he hopes that both parties will continue to give play to the advantages of enterprises and the basic theories and talents of universities, and jointly explore new mechanisms and models for joint research and innovation. Huawei awarded Professor Zhou Zhihua the “Bo Le Award” on the spot. After the signing ceremony, the second phase of the Nanjing University-Huawei Artificial Intelligence Joint Laboratory Technical Committee Meeting was held.
