Nanjing University Hosts Opening Ceremony for Jiangsu Inter-University Institute for International Communication
On September 30, the O pening Ceremony of Jiangsu Inter-University Institute for International Communication ( “the Institute” ) was held at Nanjing University (NJU). Tan Tieniu, Chair of the University CPC Council, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences , and Chair of Jiangsu Inter-University Association for the Development of International Communication (“the Association”), attended the event and delivered a speech. Notable attendees included Zhao Jinsong, Deputy Head of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee’s Publicity Department ; Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education ; and Ding Xianzhong, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government . Hu Zhu, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Government Press Office , presided over the C eremony.
On behalf of NJU and the Association Council, Tan Tieniu expressed sincere gratitude to the relevant provincial departments, member universities of the Association, and all council members for their guidance and support . Tan stated that the establishment of the Institute presented a new opportunity for NJU , alongside with 17 other universities and colleges, to further excel in international communication , and enhance the international influence of Chinese higher education institutes.
Zhao Jinsong, on behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee’s Publicity Department, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Institute. Zhao highlighted that the Institute make s a new and important step forward in developing Jiangsu’s international communication. He hoped that the Institute will share more Chinese academic achievements to the world .
During the C eremony, leaders representing NJU and the other 17 member universities and colleges collectively inaugurated the Jiangsu Inter-University Institute for International Communication.
Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of Nanjing University CPC Council and Professor from the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences , was appointed as the first Executive Dean of the Institute. Wang Shouren, Nanjing Un iversity Distinguished Professor in Humanities and Social Sciences, was designated as the Director of the Academic Committee of the Institute.
Chen Yunsong presented appointment letters to representatives of the Academic Committee members and researchers.
Wang Shouren delivered a speech as representative of the Academic Committee.
Zhuang Xi, Professor from the School of Journalism and Communication at Nanjing Normal University , gave a speech as representative of the researchers.
Sun Leqiang, the Association’s Secretariat, signed a memorandum of cooperation with China Media Group (CMG) ‘ s magazine Global Communication.
On the same day , the second council meeting of the Association was held . Tan Tieniu chaired the meeting and delivered ed a speech.
Leaders and representatives from various government departments and offices, the member universities, and the media attended the event .
