Nanjing University Hosts Special Report Meeting for Retired Faculty on ‘Observing Discipline, Gathering Strength, and Striving Forward’
On June 7, the “Observe Discipline, Gather Strength, and Forge Ahead” special report meeting for retired faculty and staff of Nanjing University was held at Gulou Campus. Yang Zhong, executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Min Tiejun, executive deputy director of the Working Committee for the Elderly, retired cadres Shen Xueshan, Pan Kehong, Yao Ping, relevant leaders of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the University, the Retirement Office and the Silver Hair Organization, directors of the Retirement Association, backbone members of the Working Committee for the Elderly, and party members of the Retirement Office branch attended the report meeting. The report meeting was hosted by Wu Heng, director of the Retirement Office.
Yang Zhong informed the old comrades of the school’s arrangements for carrying out party discipline learning and education, and gave an in-depth interpretation of the importance of party discipline learning and education. In his speech, he pointed out that the report meeting was held very timely and necessary. The Party Central Committee is carrying out party discipline learning and education throughout the party, and the school party committee has also made timely arrangements for party discipline learning and education. Carrying out party discipline learning and education is an important decision made by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core. It is a powerful tool to consolidate and expand the results of the theme education and deeply study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on the party’s self-revolution. It is a very important political task for the school’s party building work this year. He emphasized that retired old comrades should deeply understand the great significance of party discipline learning and education, and deeply understand that carrying out party discipline learning and education is an inevitable requirement for strengthening ideals and beliefs, an important element for strengthening the party’s self-revolution, an urgent need to improve party spirit cultivation, and an important guarantee for promoting the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics. Retired old comrades should also further clarify the goals of party discipline learning and education, learn discipline, understand discipline, and abide by discipline, live to old age, learn to old age, and be popular to old age, and improve political determination, disciplinary determination, moral determination, and anti-corruption determination. Regarding how retired comrades can carry out the party discipline study and education, Yang Zhong put forward four guiding opinions: first, learn the “Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China” in its entirety; second, party branches can exchange ideas while learning; third, study in conjunction with party discipline education and training; fourth, study party discipline in conjunction with warning education cases. Finally, Yang Zhong hopes that retired comrades will continue to set examples and lead by example in the party discipline study and education of the whole school, play a leading role in demonstration, and always maintain their political character.
Gu Weihua, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the University, gave a lecture on network security knowledge entitled “Learn Party Discipline, Use the Internet Well, and Forge Ahead”. In the lecture, he introduced the current development trend of the Internet at home and abroad, and used vivid cases to teach the old comrades in attendance how to surf the Internet healthily, how to identify network risks, and how to prevent network fraud.
After the report meeting, the old comrades who attended the meeting said that through learning, they have a deeper understanding of the party discipline education, clearer goals, and a better understanding of what can and cannot be done. In the future, they will internalize the party discipline and externalize it into action, and continue to contribute to our school’s “Forging Ahead Action” and “The First Nanjing University” construction.
