Nanjing University’s Discipline Inspection System Reviews 20th Third Plenary Session

On the afternoon of August 1, the University Discipline Inspection Commission and the Office of the Supervisory Commissioner held the 15th collective study (expanded) meeting in 2024 in the South Administrative Building of Xianlin Campus to convey and study the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. The meeting was chaired by Liu Miao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and Supervisory Commissioner of the National Supervisory Commission stationed at Nanjing University. Members of the University Discipline Inspection Commission, discipline inspection cadres of college-level party organizations, and all cadres of the University Discipline Inspection Commission attended the meeting online and offline.

First, Liu Miao led the study of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Liu Miao pointed out that we must deeply understand the theme, major principles, major measures and fundamental guarantees of further deepening reform in an all-round way, as well as the important significance and key tasks of promoting the reform of the discipline inspection and supervision system, and focus on the relevant content of the “Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Further Deepening Reform in an All-round Way and Promoting Chinese-style Modernization” to consistently promote the in-depth development of comprehensive and strict governance of the party. A closed-loop system of case handling, governance, supervision, and education should be formed within the school to build a systematic, integrated, collaborative and efficient work pattern. The school discipline inspection commission should carry out the work in the second half of the year in accordance with the work plan, and promote the study and education of party discipline without slacking off or stopping. The discipline inspection cadres of the college-level party organizations should assist in promoting the communication, study, and implementation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee in their units.

Afterwards, Liu Miao led everyone to review the spirit of Comrade Li Xi’s speech at the Nanjing University Research Symposium. Liu Miao said that the school discipline inspection commission should organically combine the study, understanding and implementation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee with the spirit of Comrade Li Xi’s speech at the Nanjing University Research Symposium, identify the relevant points and focus points of work, and improve the quality and efficiency of work in a targeted and appropriate manner. Liu Miao particularly emphasized that we must pay close attention to the issue of teachers’ ethics and style, and resolutely eliminate the bad apples of teachers’ ethics violations with bottom-line thinking and a zero-tolerance attitude.

Jiang Ying, deputy secretary of the school’s Discipline Inspection Commission, conveyed the spirit of the half-year work summary exchange meeting of the Jiangsu Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision. Qin Gang from the school’s Discipline Inspection Commission and Liu Peng from the School of Philosophy made speeches at the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, Liu Miao made a summary speech and put forward three requirements: First, deeply understand the great significance and spiritual essence of the plenary session, and truly unify thoughts and actions with the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee; second, deeply grasp the spirit of the “Decision” of the plenary session, and provide strong and effective guarantees for the school to further comprehensively deepen reforms; third, deeply grasp the deployment requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee for comprehensive and strict governance of the party, and promote the high-quality development of the school’s discipline inspection and supervision work in the new journey.
