Narmada Bachao Andolan Activist Medha Patkar Meets CM Ashok Gehlot

Jaipur, December 28. Social activist and pioneer of Narmada Bachao Andolan Medha Patkar met Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot at the Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday. She discussed the issues related to rehabilitation and compensation of thousands of people displaced due to Sardar Sarovar Dam project.

Shri Gehlot directed the officers present in the meeting to write letters to the Union Government and the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat in regard to organise a meeting of review committee constituted for review of the decisions of Narmada Control Authority. He asked to request for calling a meeting of the review committee at the earliest so that the discussions could be held regarding the problems related to the project and the interests of Rajasthan associated with the project.

It is to be mentioned that the Union Minister of Jal Shakti is the Chairman of the review committee of Narmada Control Authority, while the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat are its members. This committee reviews the decisions of the Narmada Control Authority.
