NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 Concludes Successfully at VIT AP University
Amaravati : The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024, a 48-hour hackathon, was successfully conducted on the 5th and 6th of October at the Innovation Incubation Entrepreneurship Cell (IIEC), 2nd floor of CB, VIT AP University, Amaravati. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 200 students, including participants from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and various regions of Andhra Pradesh such as Bhimavaram, Kurnool, Tirupati, and Kadapa.
The event, coordinated by Dr. Deepthi Godavarthi, provided a platform for students to showcase their problem-solving skills, creativity, and innovation in the field of space technology and data science. Teams worked tirelessly over 48 hours to present solutions to real-world challenges proposed by NASA.

A distinguished panel of judges, including Dr. Swati Shukla, Dr. Nihar Ranjan Pradhan, Dr. Sachi Nandan Mohanty, Dr. Reeja S R, Dr. Dripta De Joarder, Dr. Anindita Shome, Dr. Saroj Kumar Panigrahy, and Dr. Sambhudutta Nanda, evaluated the participants’ projects and awarded the best-performing teams.
The event’s Chief Guest, Dr. Sridevi Tulluri, founder and CEO of Spaceinf, inspired the participants with her words of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of innovation and collaboration in the space sector.
The local lead for the event was Dr. Deepthi Godavarthi, supported by co-leads Abhishek Jonnada and Chenna Suma Dharani. Their efforts, along with the remarkable support from Dr. Ameet Chavan, Dr. Sudhakar Illango, Dr. Saroj Kumar Panigrahy, and Dr. Sudha Ellison Mathe, ensured the success of the event.
