‘Nashe se Azadi Pakhwada’ at Department of Linguistics

 

Aligarh : Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) unequivocally advocated for a sustained campaign to end the menace of Drug abuse with a solemn pledge and other awareness programmes to observe the ‘Nashe se Azadi Pakhwada’ and the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The awareness programme was held under the Ministry of Education and General Narcotics Control Bureau guidelines. It was also a part of the nation-wide COPTA 2003 observation to sensitise people on harms of tobacco use and drug abuse.

Prof M J Warsi (Chairman, Department of Linguistics) called for a proactive and sustained campaign at all levels to take the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking to its logical end.

Dr Pallav Vishnu (Programme Convener) spoke on hazards of drug abuse and rehabilitation of addicts.
