National Commission for Scheduled Castes holds an Interaction Programme with NCST, NCM, NCBC and NCSK

The Programme emphasizes the need for joint strategies to empower National Commissions

New Delhi: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) today organized Interaction Programme with National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), National Commission for Minorities (NCM), National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK). The objective was to discuss the common issues of all Commissions and to make the Commission more effective so that the Commissions can carry out its mandate for betterment of the public in an efficient manner.

Sh. G. Srinivas, Secretary, National Commission of Scheduled Castes made a brief presentation about the Commission’s duties and initiatives.

Chairing the meeting Sh. Kishor Makwana, Chairman, NCSC, said that the main objective of this Interaction Programme is to discuss how the functioning of the Commissions can be improved so that people’s problems can be resolved and they can get speedy justice. He emphasized to strengthen the Commissions by preparing a joint memorandum and send it to the Government.

We may work together, frame joint strategies and find out ways for more effective implementation of schemes, said NMC Chairman Sh. Iqbal Singh Lalpura during the Interaction programme.

Lack of facilities and infrastructure, court cases on stalling the recommendations of the Commissions are mainly discussed in the meeting.

Smt. A. Neeraja, Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes and Sh. Rahul Kashyap, Secretary, National Commission for Safai Karamcharis also expressed their views on the functions of the Commissions.

Sh. M.Venkatesan, Chairman, NCSK, Smt. Anjna Panwar , Vice-Chairperson, NCSK, Dr. P. P. Vava, Member, NCSK, Sh. Love Kush Kumar, Member, NCSC, Sh. Vaddepalli Ramchander, Member, NCSC, Sh. Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal, Member, NCBC, Sh. Jatothu Hussain, Member, NCST, Sh. Nirupam Chakma, Member, NCST also expressed their views. Sh. G. Srinivas, Secretary National Commission of Scheduled Castes concluded the meeting saying a common joint memorandum will be prepared and given to the concerned Ministries for strengthening the Commissions to make them more effective by way of recommendations from today’s deliberations.
