National Conference on DNA by CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar

 

Bhubaneswar: This year coincides with the 150th year of the discovery of DNA by Friedrich Miescher in the Seyler’s Lab. To mark this occasion CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology Bhubaneswar is organizing a National Conference on Nucleic acid Science and Technology (NCNST) from 10 to 13 August 2021. The 10 August is the death anniversary of Prof. Felix Hoppe-Seyler and the 13 August is the birth anniversary of Prof. Friedrich Miescher. Thus, the scheduled online event offers gratitude for their groundbreaking work which paved the future biomedical research.

More than 500 delegates from different Academic and Research Institutions across the nation have participated in NCNST 2021. The diverse groups of participants ranging from students, Scholars, School Teachers, Academicians, Professors, Doctors, Scientists and Entrepreneurs have joined to interact with the experts in the field of Genomics, Transcriptomics and DNA Nanotechnology. The convener of NCNST Dr Umakanta Subudhi briefed about the conference while Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director IMMT Bhubaneswar delivered the Welcome address.

Speaking on this occasion Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director IMMT, Bhubaneswar said, “We are happy to organize such a high level and brain storming conference with renowned dignitaries from different Academic and Research Institutions across the nation. The conference will help all the delegates in exploring newer dimensions in the areas of Nucleic acid Science and Technology.”

The four days conference was inaugurated by Prof. Krishna N. Ganesh, Director IISER Tirupati as the Chief Guest and Prof. Partha P. Majumder, President of the Indian Academy of Sciences Bangalore delivered the Keynote Lecture. The eminent speakers for the conference were invited from IITs, IISER, INST, IACS, and CSIR-IGIB.

Finally, co-convener Dr T. Pavan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks at the inaugural ceremony.
