National Conference on Functional Materials
Aligarh : A three day national online conference on ‘‘National Conference on Functional Materials: Synthesis, Properties and Applications’ in the cutting-edge area of Functional Materials was organised by the department of Physics, AMU. Over 210 participants from about 18 states have registered for the conference.
The Chief Guest Prof Tariq Mansoor (Vice Chancellor, AMU) said; “In today’s extremely competitive world the need and a hunger for functional materials have multiplied many times and advancements in the use of materials has a huge impact on society”.
In his keynote address Prof SM Yusuf (Director, Physics Group Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai), emphasing on revealing applied aspects of magnetic materials said ; “unabated development in materials and their applications has led us today to the era of Functional materials, which are said to be any specially designed material with a determined function. Semiconductors, polymers, molecular crystals, or nano-particles are good examples of them”.
Delivering the welcome address Prof BP Singh (Chairperson of the Dept of Physics), informed 23 invited talks were delivered by noted material scientists from various parts of India and abroad.
Prof Shahid Husain (convener of the conference), presented the overview of the event and said that there will also be oral and poster presentations by the participants.
The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Wasi Khan.
