National De-worming day: Awareness cum health camps organized in District Samba
Samba: National Deworming day was observed today in District Samba by organizing awareness and health camps.
The programme was kick started at Health and Wellness Centre(HWC) Sujwan Zone, Dagohre of Medical Block Samba by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rajinder Samyal in presence of Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Chajjwal S. Girdhara Singh; Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sanjay Sharma; Medical Officer School Health, Dr Anju Saraf; Block Medical Officer, Nud, Dr. Anju Bala; Zonal Medical Officer, Daghore, Dr Rashid Ali Wani & other staff of health department, ICDS Department and PRI members and locals, including women and children.
Awareness lecture was also delivered by the health experts. The children in the age group (1-19) years were administrated Albendazole tablets at the HWC-SC Sujwan. The programme was organized following all the mandatory precautions of maintaining social distancing & other measures for protection of the COVID -19.
The National Deworming Day is an initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to make every child in the country worm free mainly Soil Transmitted Helminths(STH). This is one of the largest public health programs reaching large number of children during a short period.
The STH infections can lead to anemia, malnutrition, impaired mental and physical & cognitive development, and reduced school participation.
