National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM)- An efficient E-shiksha program helping in springboarding career growth of budding job aspirants
New Delhi: With an aim of providing essential computer training to students in their formative years and also the youth, Moser Baer Trust started its computer literacy intervention in 2008 and has been a frontrunner in promoting this in the NCR region of Noida and Greater Noida. Moser Baer Trust since its inception has been able to train over 6000 people in its Digital Literacy Program till now.
The initiative was initially started as an E-Shiksha Program in 2008 and has been in collaboration with NASSCOM Foundation since 2009. The motivation behind this initiative was to bridge the gap between the technology and rural populace for a sizeable section of population including the students and working people interested in pursuing computer education.
The strategies devised by National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) was with an aim to reach the set goal making everyone digital literate. Mercer and Nasscom Foundation has been provided all required support realizing the larger goal of NDLM.
The whole initiative was planned on the sidelines of Prime Minister’s vision of “Digital India” with a motto “Power to Empower” with an objective of “atleast making one person in every family digitally literate “.
The Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) or National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) Scheme has been formulated to impart IT training to 52.5 lakh persons, including Anganwadi and ASHA workers and authorized ration dealers in all the States/UTs across the country so that the non-IT literate citizens are trained to become IT literate so as to enable them to actively and effectively participate in the democratic and developmental process and also enhance their livelihood.

Neelam Maurya, A graduation student from Barola village, Noida: She was looking for a job to cope with her rising educational fees. Her father is working in a private organization and his earning of Rs 12,000/month is not enough to fulfill the requirements of 5 member family. This led Neelam to apply for work to provide monetary support to her family. With the help of the NEC-NDLM training, she quickly gained knowledge of making reports, data entries in excel and many such essential skillsets. She said “I’m really happy with the training and thanks to the training, I got hold of a good offer for a front desk executive job with WebWiz, an ITES company based out of Noida.
Abhishek Pandey after undergoing the NDLM course said: “Before joining the course my friends kept postulating me on one month learning prospective but in a month I truly gained sufficient knowledge to open my own computer center and works towards more digital exposure.”
Moser Baer Trust has also partnered with Microsoft India for providing greater access to quality educational services for disadvantaged communities.
