National Doctors Day: Principal GMC Anantnag emphasises upon medical professionals to work with sincerity, dedication

Anantnag: The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today celebrated the National Doctor’s Day with great enthusiasm at the Associated Hospital of the college here.

The celebratory function was attended by Faculty Members, Consultants, Medical Officers, Registrars and Paramedical, Nursing, Ministerial and Administrative staff of the college.

Series of lectures on ‘role of doctors in normal as well as extraordinary situations like Covid, current and evolving medical concepts, importance of medical education in the large spectrum of biological sciences besides issues being faced by the profession as a whole’ were presented by the speakers.

Principal/Dean of GMC, Prof. (Dr.) Syed Tariq Qureshi presided over the function as Chief Guest and spoke on a number of issues.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal impressed upon the medical professionals to work with sincerity and dedication for improving the services of the college. He sought cooperation of all departments and college administration for working in tandem and making the institution exemplary, for all medical institutions to emulate.

Prof. Qureshi also highlighted the contribution of COVID warriors and commended the GMC staff and its Associated Hospitals on the day.

On the occasion, a complete overview of mucormycosis with focus on its diagnosis, prevention and treatment was presented by ENT specialist, Prof, Dr. Sajad Majid Qazi.

Dr. Tajali Shora highlighted the Sacrifices rendered by Medical Professionals throughout the world particularly in the country during COVID-19. He also talked about the background for celebrating the day.

Dr. Nazir Ahmad Wani, Associate Professor, Surgery spoke on various issues and challenges faced by the Medical Fraternity while delivering their services.

A total of 23 professionals including faculty members, doctors, paramedics, computer operators, electricians, nursing orderlies and sanitation workers received appreciation letters from the college.
