The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes multilingualism in Indian education by encouraging the learning of mother tongues or regional languages alongside other languages.

 

To realise this vision of #NEP2020, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, launched three key initiatives: ASMITA, Bahubhasha Shabdkosh, and Real-time Translation Architecture during the valedictory session of the “UGC Workshop on Writing Textbooks in Bharatiya Bhasha for Higher Education”.

 

☑️ ASMITA, led by UGC and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, aims to produce 22,000 books in 22 scheduled languages within five years.

 

☑️ Bahubhasha Shabdkosh, by CIIL and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, plans to create a comprehensive multilingual dictionary repository.

 

☑️ Real-time Translation Architecture, by NETF and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, aims to develop a framework for enhancing real-time translation in Bharatiya Bhasha.
