National Energy Conservation Day at AMU

 

Aligarh : Awareness programmes on energy conservation and the need for renewable energy were held across the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to observe the National Energy Conservation Day.

At the University Health Service, Dr Shariq Aqil (In-Charge and Chief Medical Officer) administered the oath for overall energy efficiency and conservation of natural resources.

He vowed to make energy conservation an integral part of lives and urged staff members to advocate energy efficiency at their residences, work places and in their surroundings.

Dr M N Huda Khan, Dr Farah Ashhar, Dr Nikhat Rizvi, Dr Naheed Perwin and Dr Sana Maria spoke about various ways to save electricity and energy such as switching off lights and fans when not being used and reducing the use of a particular service that uses energy – like driving less and using public transport instead.

All the paramedical and administrative staff attended the program.

Administering the pledge at the AMU City Girls’ High School, the school principal, Dr MD Alamgir explained how conscious and individual efforts of energy conservation will lead in reaching sustainable energy through the Country.

He emphasised that people in technologically advanced countries like India can easily find effective conservation methods.

School teachers, Samar Zahid and Tehmina Ashraf spoke on the consequences of excessive use and wastage of electricity and gave presentations on methods to save electricity and energy.

Sana Shamshad organised the screening of a documentary on energy conservation. Urooja Khan and Farzana Nazeer conducted the programme.
