National Energy Conservation Day at AMU

Aligarh: The four-day National Energy Conservation Day observations today started at the Electricity Department, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with awareness talks on limiting energy loss.

Administering the pledge to adopt energy conservation in the inaugural function, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor called the faculty members and students to take part in the energy conservation campaign.

“Let us all pledge to use energy judiciously in everyday life, ensure zero wastage and spread awareness about the importance of energy conservation for a healthy environment and sustainable future”, he said.

Prof Mansoor pressed for spreading awareness on climate change and global warming and making efforts towards saving energy resources and switching to sustainable means.

He spoke about the priority and commitment of the university administration for energy conservation initiatives in the campus and appreciated the efforts of the Electricity Department for implementing efficient green energy plans.

Prof Mohd Rihan (Member-in-Charge, Electricity Department) talked about financial and environmental concerns of unchecked energy consumption and suggested effective ways of conserving energy.

He stressed the need for regular awareness campaigns and emphasised the importance of energy conservation in all aspects of life.

Prof Rihan also motivated energy monitors, faculty, staff and students for active involvement in energy conservation initiatives.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor also released, ‘Green Energy Transition in India- Including the Success Story of AMU’, a book authored by Prof Rihan on National missions on green energy transition and the developments at AMU.

Prof Mohammad Altamush Siddiqui (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) urged everyone to be energy conscious and advocate energy conservation by being vigilant in our surroundings.

Dr M Ajmal Kafeel (Associate Member-in-Charge, Electricity Department) delivered the welcome address and Syed Mohammed Abdullah (Assistant Engineer, AMU) extended the vote of thanks.
