National Girl Child Day: Series of awareness events held across Jammu Division

 

JAMMU : A series of awareness and social events were today held across Jammu Division to mark National Girl Child Day.

Cultural Wing, Department of Information and Public Relations organised a program here at Balika Niketan, Jammu on National Girl Child Day. Secretary Sudesh Pal; Principal Seema Mangotra; Wardan Tripta Sharma and students witnessed the program.

Senior Cultural Assistants Banti Kumar and Rajid Manzoor and students of Balika Niketan presented a colourful cultural programme. Drama Instructor, Vijay Anand blessed and congratulated the students who were present in the program and shared his views and highlighted the importance of the National Girl Child Day.

The Principal of Balika Niketan appreciated the department for organising the event to mark the day and blessed the students for a bright future.

At Ramban: To spread awareness about the importance of girl education and motivate the people to provide equal opportunity to girls at home and at their workplace, the National Girl Child Day was celebrated across the district Ramban by many Government institutions, besides other organizations.

An impressive function was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with ICDS and other departments which witnessed a variety of activities, including motivational lectures and jingles on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ presented by the girls of different schools of Ramban.

NSS Unit of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt.P.G College for Women, Gandhinagar celebrated National Girl Child Day as part of *Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav* here under the guidance of Worthy Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari.

To celebrate the day the College organised two activities- Poster Making Competition on the theme- Save and Protect the Girl Child and Debate Competition on the theme- Rights of Girl Child in India. A total of 95 volunteers attended these activities. In the Poster Making Competition, twenty three volunteers participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talent and creativity. Muskan Chib, Sneha Katal and Tanu Sharma bagged First, Second and Third Positions respectively in Poster Making.

In Debate Competition, twenty volunteers participated and spoke on the subject and constitutional laws like Article 14,15,19,21,etc which provides a girl/ women the Right to Equality, Right to Protection to life and Personal liberty, Right to Privacy, and so on.

Sujata Sharma, Muskan Thackyal and Gunjan Rajput were adjudged as First, Second and third in Debate Competition.

The events were coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Monika Hans and Volunteers- Komal Gupta, Shriya Kalla and Gunjan Rajput.

ICDS Banihal celebrated the National Girl Child Day by organizing a programme for girl children amid strict Copvid protocols.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Banihal, Zaheer Abbas Bhat was the chief guest on the occasion.

Several girls were felicitated with certificates and prizes by the SDM and other dignitaries. Baby kits were also distributed among the new born baby girls.

Tehsildar Banihal, Imtiyaz Ahmed, CDPO Banihal, Mohammad Ismial, TSWO Banihal and several other officers also participated in the programme.

District Administration Rajouri celebrated the National Girl Child day by felicitating meritorious girls from across the District.

Twelve meritorious Girls of the district Aasia Mehmood, Swati, Vishakha Sharma, Manju Manhas, Jyoti Devi, Sabeena Chowdhury, Yasmeen Kouser, Shilpa Charak, Amreen Anjum, Jeevan Jyoti Jamwal, Vanshika Thakur and Sharnaya Gupta were felicitated with cash prize of Rs 10000 each and mementos Additional District Development Commissioner, Pawan Kumar was the chief guest during the event.

Among the others present were CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt and other officers were also present during the event.

Social Welfare Department Doda under the supervision of DSWO Doda Zubair Ahmed Lone celebrated National Girl Child Day under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, with great pomp and show here at twin locations Doda and Bhaderwah.

During the day different activities were organised at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School Bhaderwah and at Girls Hr Sec School Doda wherein debate and painting competition was organised in which numerous girls participated, besides at Nari Niketan Doda inmates girls of different age groups also celebrated the girl child day.

The participants were presented consolation prizes, besides the meritorious students of Nari Niketan Doda were felicitated by the institution,in addition to this the birthdays of various girl children were celebrated at various anganwadi centres by the department.

Speakers also highlighted the achievements of girls in different fields of the society, besides informing them about their rights and measures being taken by the government for their social security.

The officials of Mahila Shakti Kendra, Sakhi OSC, besides other officials of the department were also present during the program.

District Administration Kishtwar celebrated the National Girl Child Day-2022 under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao across the District.

The programme started with a cycle Rally organised by District Youth services & Sports Department in collaboration with District administration & Education Department, which was flagged off by Deputy commissioner Ashok Sharma, here from DC office complex.

The rally comprising students & other youth including girls and boys passed through Wasser, Kuleed Chowk, Dakbanglow Kishtwar and culminated at Government Higher Secondary School.

Later, the students took part in the painting competition on the theme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Women Empowerment and a Debate competition and a Talk Show at GHSS (Boys).

The debate competition was chaired by ADC in presence of ACR,CEO, DySP HQ and AO DC office.

The ADC apprised the girl child students about the various women and girls child welfare schemes launched by the government. He also highlighted the importance of education of the girl child for the socio-economic uplift and equality of women folk.

The talk show witnessed participation of prominent women, including officers from Legal, Education and Health departments. They interacted with the girl students and discussed the legal, political and economical aspects/issues of women/girl child in the society.

DLSA, Jammu under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) organised a Webinar “National Girl Child Day” with a motive to enhance people’s conscience towards the girl child in Indian society.

Sunila Kumari (JLA) DLSA Jammu welcomed the participants and concluded the webinar with a vote of thanks.

Advocate Maheen Shah and Advocate Vikash Sharma (Panel Lawyers DLSA, Jammu) were the resource persons for the webinar.

Participants included panel lawyers, paralegal volunteers and staff of DLSA Jammu. Same programmes were held at TLSC R.S. Pura, TLSC Bishnah and TLSC Akhnoor.

Govt. Degree College, Marh organized Poster-making competition under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta. Students of the college actively participated in this activity. They prepared self made posters with slogans related to the importance of girl child and clicked selfies with their parents.

The participants were judged by Prof. AshuJolly( HOD,Education) and Prof. Anjana Chib ( HOD,EVS). Vishal Gupta of Sem Ist was adjudged first, Shivani Mottan of Sem III secured second position and third position was bagged by Tania Sharma of SemIII.

Principal of the college, Prof. Aekta Gupta congratulated all the participants and winners of the competition and emphasized that celebration of such days promote awareness about the rights of a girl child and importance of their education, health and nutrition. The programme was organised by Dr.Shakun Sharma (HOD,Sociology) and coordinated by Prof. Satish Kumar (NSS PO).

Government Degree College Sunderbani, NSS unit in collaboration with Department of Sociology organized a lecture on the topic “Declining child Sex ratio in India” in connection with the celebration of National girl child day.

The event was held under overall supervision of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, she advised the students to develop the human values among themselves and fight against the prevailing evils related to women in society.

The Key speaker Prof Sheraz kousser, Assistant Professor in Sociology, extensively discussed about child sex ratio, Sample Registration System (SRS) Statistical report (2018), causes of falling child sex ratio in India, Why the declining child sex ratio in India is a cause for worry, the various imitative taken by Government to tackle the issue and how to Address the Declining Child Sex ratio.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sham lal (NSS Officer). Other faculty members of the college Dr Mohd Azam Dr Paras Shastri, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Ravi Kumar (NCC Officer) were also present.

DLSA Udhampur: As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur under the guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur, ( Y.P Bourney) organized an awareness programme in Collaboration with the School Education Department Udhampur to celebrate the National Girl Child Day.

The aim of the Programme was to raise awareness about the issues related to Girl Child.

DLSA, Udhampur organized a Webinar on the Subject at Govt. Model Girls Hr. Secondary School, Udhampur, Govt. Model Boys Hr. Secondary School, Udhampur, Govt. Model Hr. Secondary School, Ramnagar, and Bharti Vidya Mandir Hr. Secondary School, Udhampur.

The students presented their views through extempore speeches on the subject.

The Students highlighted the importance of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” Campaign.

The Secretary DLSA, while thanking the students and the staff, threw light on the role of girl child in the society and stressed upon various initiatives taken by Govt. of India in favour of Girl Child. The Principals of the schools Sunil Sharma, Tarseem Lal and Pawan Slathia along with the school staff were also present in the Programme.

The students were facilitated by Rajni Sharma (Sub Judge) Secretary; DLSA Udhampur. Shafeeq Ahmed Distt. Judicial Mobile Magistrate Udhampur was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The Resource Persons of the Programme were Panel Lawyers Adv. Akhil Dubey and Adv. Mallikarjun Singh Slathia. Similar programmes were organized by TLSCs Ramnagar, Chenani and Majalta at their respective places.

Government Degree College Ukhral, under the Flagship Programme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav, celebrated “National Girl Child Day” by organizing many online events. The day commenced with the special message from the Patron of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Ranvijay Singh. He said that girls are angels and we need to liberate them from the mental chains of patriarchy.

A Poster-Making event was held early in the day and students from all semesters participated in it. Many posters were selected to be preserved in the archives of the College.

In the Second programme, the theme of “Girls are Angels, save them” was given to the Students for essay writing. A large number of Students participated in it. Reetu Bali (5th Sem.), Priya Devi (2nd Sem.), Ravita (2nd Sem.) and Sunita Devi (2nd Sem.) were declared as winners.

Later, a paper reading presentation was conducted to inform the students about our duties towards girl children. Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Katoch and Prof. Zakir Hussain also presented their thoughts on the occasion. Among Students, Ruqaya Manzoor, Ajaz Ahmed, Priya Devi, Reetu Thakur, Sabiha Daing, Sohan Singh and Sonika presented their papers. The whole programme was moderated by Prof. Iftikhar Hussain Lone, Convener, Debates and Seminar Committee of the College.

Government Degree College Jindrah: NSS UNIT , Women Development Cell, Department of Sociology and Department of Political Science of GDC, Jindrah organised several online activities in a collaborated manner to celebrate National Girl Child Day under the guidance of Prof.( Dr.) Rajshree Dhar , Principal of the college.

Activities like Poster Making, self- composed video making and paragraph writing were organised by all Head of Departments and Nodal officers of concerned units of the institution to engage students and raise awareness among them about several issues related to girl child in India. Students of the college participated enthusiastically and among all participants Sanjay Dutt of 1st sem stood First , Pallavi of sem 3rd stood Second and Zarina Bibi of 3rd semester stood Third in Poster Making competition.

Eishika Sharma of sem 3rd stood First, Shamim Akhter of sem 3rd stood Second and Pallavi of sem 3rd acquired Third position in video composing, while Sneha Devi of sem 3rd begged First, Mehnaz Akhter of sem 3rd stood Second and Nirmal Singh of sem 1st bagged third position in Paragraph writing .

District Udhampur Schools: National Girl Child Day was celebrated by the schools of District Udhampur under the guidance of their HOI’s via virtual mode.

Students celebrated the day by organizing events like Essay writing, Slogan writing, Speech, Drawing etc based on the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Save the Girl Child”.

Staff members also made students aware about the initiatives being taken by the Government in the education sector for the progress of Girl child and empowerment of the girls.

About 3754 students of 345 schools and 256 parents/Stakeholders participated in the program.

The event was organized under the direct supervision and guidance of CEO Udhampur, Arvin Kumar Koul.
