National Horticulture Board launches NHB scheme in district Ramban

 

RAMBAN : The activities of the National Horticulture Board
were formally launched in the district in an event chaired by the Chairperson
of District Development Council, Ramban, Dr Shamshad Shan here today.

Deputy Director, National Horticulture Board (GOI), Sansar Ahmed
was the guest of honour on the occasion. On occasion, a one-day awareness camp
was organised to disseminate information regarding the functioning of the
National Horticulture Board among the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson said, “Given the huge
potential of horticulture in the district, the launch of the National
Horticulture Board will play a significant role in boosting horticulture in the
district. With the launch of NHB in Rambanas well as the other districts will
be benefited under the Schemes of the National Horticulture Board”.

The Chairperson said that the department is striving for
empowering farmers by imparting value addition under the PMFME (ODOP) scheme,
NHB, AIF, e-NAM, grading and packing besides facilitating the farmers, FPOs,
SHGs and Cooperatives of the district to promote the sale of the local produce.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director said that NHB, which
is mandated for integrated development of hi-tech commercial horticulture and
post-harvest management/cold chain infrastructure in the country, is launched
in Ramban for implementation, monitoring and coordination of its various
schemes and activities.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Anil Gokha; Chief Agriculture
Officer, Dr Ashwani Sharma and Area Marketing Officer, Horticulture, Planning
& Marketing, Sunil Bakshi among other senior officers and progressive
farmers attended the programme.
