National Lok Adalat: 39,743 cases settled in Jammu district

 

JAMMU : The 3rd National Lok Adalat was held today in District Court Jammu and other courts falling under its jurisdiction in which 22 Benches were constituted to hear the cases.

A total number of 45,288 cases were listed out of which 39,743 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 27,37,72,469 was realised by persuasion, reconciliation and compounding.

The administrative Judge for District Jammu Justice Tashi Rabstan also visited the court complex and interacted with the litigants during the Lok Adalat. Besides on spot compensation awarded in MACT claims was also disbursed to the claimants by his lordship

This Lok adalat was presided over by Sanjay Parihar, Pr Distt and Sessions Judge Jammu, who is also chairman DLSA Jammu. He was ably assisted by other Judicial officers of Jammu District.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, while interacting with lawyers, litigants, exhorted them to have maximum usage of Alternative dispute resolution mechanism which is not only cost effective but also viable in current situation.
