‘National Mathematics Day’ at Applied Mathematics, AMU

Aligarh : B. Tech (Electronics Engineering) student, Aas Mohammad won the poster presentation competition on ‘Life and Work Contribution of Srinivasa Ramanujan’ held to mark the ‘National Mathematics Day’, the birth anniversary of eminent mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Anamta Rehman (B. Tech Chemical Engineering) was declared the runner-up in the poster contest.

Ph.D students, AjijaYasmin and Rakibul SK finished first and second respectively in the oral paper presentation on ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan and his Contributions’.

“The competitions were held to raise awareness on the value of mathematics and the recent advances and breakthroughs in the subject”, said Prof Mohammad Kamarujjama (Chairman, Department of Applied Mathematics).

Delivering a talk on ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan and his Contributions to the Analytical Theory of Numbers’; the Guest Speaker, Prof M A Pathan (Visiting Professor, Centre of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Kerala) discussed Ramanujan’s various contributions including the ‘number theory’.

Prof Nabiullah Khan (Programme Convener) and Dr SabihaTabassum conducted the programme and Dr GhazalaYasmin delivered the welcome address.

Dr Zubair Khan extended the vote of thanks.
