National seminar on green energy transition on July 15

 

ALIGARH : The Electricity Department, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a national seminar on ‘Green energy transition and the role of Academic Institutions’ on 15 July 2023, under the G20 sub-theme ‘Clean Energy for a Greener Future’.

Prof. Mohammad Rihan, Coordinator, Centre for Integrated Green and Renewable Energy, Member Incharge, Electricity Department and Convener, Green University Project, AMU said that Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Vice Chancellor, AMU will preside over the inaugural function. The Chief Guest of the event Mr. Lalit Bohra (IRTS), Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and Director General, National Institute of Solar Energy, MNRE will also visit the 6.5 MWp setup of solar energy on the university campus.

The guests of honour, Mr Atul Vats (IAS), Vice Chairman, Aligarh Development Authority, Mr Mehtab Singh (IRSEE), Former Chief Electrical Engineer, Indian Railways and Former Chairman, Delhi Local Network of IET (UK), and AMU Registrar, Mr Mohammad Imran (IPS), will also speak on the occasion. The participants include students, teachers, engineers of distribution companies and persons from industry.

Prof Rihan further said that in view of the impending climate crisis, one of the greatest challenges is the sustainable generation and use of energy. In India also these concerns are on top priority of the government and policymakers. In this rapid transition of energy scenario in the country, universities and other academic institutions have a critical role to play. The seminar is being organized to highlight these issues and provide an impetus to faculty members and researchers to work on effective solutions to energy-related problems, educate and train manpower and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in this area.
