National seminar on Holistic Research held in Unani Medicine

 

Aligarh: The Department of Ilmul Advia, A K Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, organized a national seminar on “Holistic (Kulliyat Guided) Research in Unani Medicine”.

Addressing the inaugural function, chief guest, Dr Hakeem Mohammad Khalid Siddiqui (former Director General, CCRUM, New Delhi) said that AMU’s department of Ilmul Advia has contributed vastly in the area of medicinal research. He hoped the seminar will open doors to newer studies in Unani medicine using a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach.

Prof Abdul Wadud, Director, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru said it was essential to keep with the contemporary developments in Unani medicine while strengthening this science on conventional basis. He said it was important to start new researches based on holistic approaches combining the old and modern medicinal developments.

Prof Kunwar Mohd Yusuf Amin urged the participants of the seminars to work on blending the conventional research approaches with modern studies and strengthen the foundation of holistic development of Unani medicinal research.

In his presidential remarks, Prof M M H Siddiqui, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine highlighted the important achievements of the faculty.

Dr Saud Ali Khan, Principal, A K Tibbiya College said the seminar will prove to be a path breaking step in the direction of holistic research and this department will again play a leading role in giving new directions to Kulliyat guided research in Unani medicine.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof Naeem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia and organizing chairman, said his department has pioneered in futuristic research in the field of Unani medicinal development and this seminar will further provide impetus for newer research ideas in the field of integrated medicine.

Dr Suresh Raina (Nimhans), Prof K K Sharma (Sharda University), Prof Abul Kalam Najmi (Jamia Hamdard), Prof Zainul Abidin (Jamia Hamdard) and Prof Hakeem Syed Maudood Ashraf, Prof Anwar Siddiqui and Prof Tanzeel Ahmad Siddiqui of AMU presented papers on various aspects of Unani research.

Dr Abdu Rauf conducted the programme while Dr Nazish Siddiqui proposed a vote of thanks.
