National sports day observed

 

ALIGARH : Aman Chaudhary, a student of class X at Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged, Aligarh Muslim University won first prize in the speech competition held by the school on “Importance of sports for healthy lifestyle”, marking the National Sports Day.

Md Miraj Alam (Class VIII) and Ghulam Mohiuddin (Class IX) got the second and third prizes respectively. Preeti Kumari (Class X) was given the consolation prize.

In the sports quiz competition, Krishna Sharma (Class V) stood first, while Shaukat Ahmad Malik (Class IV) stood second and Bharti Yadav (Class V) won the third prize.

A short video of Yoga exercise, shot by the students of Primary Section was also shown under the caption “Fit India Freedom 2.0”.

Addressing the occasion, Professor Zamirullah Khan (Chairman, Department of Physical and Sports Education, AMU) emphasized the importance and relevance of sports in leading and maintaining a healthy life.

Earlier, welcoming the guest and highlighting the significance of the day, Dr Naila Rashid (Principal of the school) said health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. She urged the students to make a habit of daily physical workout to keep themselves healthy.

Ms Sana Raza (Incharge, Sports events) spoke on the significance of national sports day.

Mr Niaz Ahmad Khan (PGT Urdu) proposed a vote of thanks while Ms Eram Fatima conducted the programme.
