National Webinar on “Use of Web of Science in Research and Publications”
ALIGARH : Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University organized a three-day national webinar on “Use of Web of Science in Research and Publications”, in collaboration with Clarivate, with an objective to increase awareness among students and research scholars regarding the use of two important research tools, Web of Science and EndNote Reference Management software.
Welcoming the guest speaker and guests, Prof Nishat Fatima (University Librarian and Convener) highlighted the importance of the Web of Science in research and publications.
Presenting a keynote address, Mr.Vishav Sharma, Regional Solution Consultant, Clarivate, affirmed that the Web of Science database is the most trusted abstract and citation platform, enabling scholars to trace concepts across disciplines and time.
He also discussed the coverage of Web of Science database, which includes various citation indexes such as the Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index and Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index, etc.
In another session, Mr Sharma delivered a lecture on “Publishing Research Papers in Quality Academic Journals” and enlightened the participants about the significance of the Web of Science in discovering impactful research and quality journals. He highlighted the importance of Journal Citation Reports in selecting quality journals for publishing research.
On the third day, he discussed the significance of the use of EndNote software in academic writing by delivering a lecture on “Managing References in Academic Writings with EndNote”.
He said EndNote is a powerful citation manager that offers a wider range of features with the purpose of organising and improving research. He pointed out how we can create a personal library of citations, references and bibliographies in a word document by exporting records from databases.
Ms Azra Aftab, Dr Shajarul Islam Khan and Dr Jafar Iqbal moderated the various sessions of the webinar while Dr. Asif Fareed Siddiqui, Deputy Librarian, Maulana Azad Library and one of the Coordinators of the programme gave introductory remarks. Dr. Habibur Rahman Khan and Dr. Monawwer Eqbal were the other coordinators.
Dr Daud Khan, Dr Shamama Firdaus and Dr Surayya Ghalibeen presented reports at the conclusion of each session while Dr Habibur Rahman Khan presented a comprehensive report of the webinar.
An interactive session with the resource person was also held with the participation of more than 350 participants.
Dr. Monawwer Eqbal proposed a vote of thanks.
