National Workshop on Concepts and Applications of LC-MS

Aligarh : The University Sophisticated Instruments Facility (USIF) at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a three-day National Workshop on “Concepts and Applications of Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS)” recently. The workshop aimed to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge in the field of LC-MS to beginners and intermediate-level users in the scientific, medical, and life science communities.

The National Workshop revolved around fundamental LC-MS concepts, operational techniques, applications, and the latest developments in the field. It served as a platform for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of LC-MS and its versatile applications, including quantifying proteomes, drug metabolites, nucleotides, and derivatives in various biological samples such as bacterial cells, proteins, natural products, and enzyme structures.

The Chief Guest, Prof. S.K. Singh, Former Vice Chancellor of H.N.B. Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, highlighted the importance of the instrument center at AMU and stressed the crucial role played by sophisticated instruments in enhancing research and teaching quality. He lauded USIF’s efforts in optimizing existing equipment. Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean Faculty of Medicine, expounded on LC-MS and its wide-ranging applications. Prof. Mohammad Mobin, former Chairman of the Department of Applied Chemistry, shared his long-standing association with USIF since its inception. Dr. M.
