National Youth Day’ observed at GDC Baramulla

Baramulla: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College, Baramulla today organised a special session themed ‘Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building ’to commemorate National Youth Day in honour of Swami Vivekananda.

This day is observed every year on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest spiritual and social leaders, also considered as believer of youth power.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, was the chief guest during the event. He on the occasion shared his thought-provoking ideas and experiences in the light of this years theme.

Earlier, Principal, GDC Baramulla, Prof. (Dr.) A. R. Malik, welcomed the guest and participants and gave an inaugural address wherein he enlightened participants about NYD and shed light on the importance and spirit of observing the day at different platforms, across the country.

He touched upon social change and anticipated youth as ambassadors of social change. Dr. Kaiser Ahmad, NSS Program Officer (Unit-I) of the college conducted proceedings of the event and presented a brief gist and importance of observing the NYD.

Prof. Arshid Ahmad, NSS Program Officer (Unit-II) of the college briefed participants about the life and works of Swami Vivekananda and stressed upon imbibing the positivity, optimism, and hope in the youth.

NSS volunteers also shared their thoughts on how the power, distinction, and glory of youth can be channelized to make them contribute to the all-round development of the nation. The event witnessed a moderate participation of NSS volunteers, NSS Program officers, and faculty of the college.
