Navoiy Scientists Set Sights on Expanding Collaboration with UrFU

Researchers from Navoiy State University of Mining and Technologies (Uzbekistan) intend to expand their cooperation with the Ural Federal University in new directions. On September 15, they paid a visit to Ekaterinburg.

Thus, NSTU Rector Bakhtiyor Mardonov and the university’s vice-rector for International Relations Shukhrat Alikulov visited the energy and construction institutes, as well as met with the UrFU management to outline the next steps to increase the pace of interaction.

“Now we are connected with Navoiy by a great scientific work: with colleagues at the university we are working on the extraction of gold from refractory ores produced by the local mining and metallurgical plant – the world’s fourth gold producer, for the tasks of which the research is focused,” said Denis Rogozhnikov, Head of the Research Laboratory for Advanced Studies in Petrochemistry, Chemical Technology and Biotechnology at UrFU. – A week earlier we received a delegation from NSTU headed by Rustam Khamidov, Head of the International Department, who handed over a 40 kg sample of concentrate that was necessary for the start of work”.

The universities are also discussing other promising topics for cooperation between the scientific laboratory of UrFU and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, including the possibility of producing alumina from kaolin ores of Uzbek deposits, wastewater treatment at the plant’s enterprises with the possibility of extraction of valuable components, and involvement in processing of newly formed and already accumulated technogenic wastes of existing production facilities with extraction of gold.
