NBA Chairman Prof. Sahasrabudhe delivers lecture on NEP-2020 at AMU

Aligarh : Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and former Chairperson of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), delivered a lecture at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Auditorium, Aligarh Muslim University, today, focusing on the “NEP-2020: Achieving Excellence Through Implementation.” Stressing the necessity for holistic education, he emphasised the importance of making Learning enjoyable, a principle at the core of the National Education Policy (NEP). The Lecture was organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, AMU.

Marking the National Science Day, Prof. Sahasrabudhe greeted all innovators, scientists, and technology enthusiasts at AMU and highlighted the significance of indigenous innovation and frontier technologies for realising the vision of Viksit Bharat. He underscored NEP 2020’s role in fostering a research and innovation mindset, as well as promoting entrepreneurial spirit, emphasising holistic development, accessibility, equity, and affordability, all in line with the sustainable development goals.

Paying rich tributes to the founder of AMU, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Prof. Sahasrabudhe appreciated university’s pluralistic heritage, eco-friendly surroundings, and academic accomplishments, highlighting why it’s often referred to as Mini-India.

Proposing innovative approaches to education, Prof. Sahasrabudhe advocated for integrating India’s ancient knowledge, visual effects, animation, and artificial intelligence into the curriculum. He stressed the need for adopting mother tongue as the core medium of instruction, choice-based credit systems, and bridge courses, emphasising the importance of practical skills for employability.

Furthermore, he discussed initiatives such as SWAYAM-PLUS, Smart India Hackathon, and twinning programmes, aimed at enhancing student engagement, national development, and global collaboration. He also mentioned the implementation of FRRO registration and APAAR, Students’ unique ID, the concept of “One Nation, One Student ID, One Data” to streamline educational processes and facilitate international partnerships.

In his presidential remarks, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Moammad Gulrez, appreciated the NEP-2020 policy and said AMU’s achievements reflect its commitment to providing a holistic and inclusive education. The university remains dedicated to fostering excellence and empowering its students to thrive in the evolving educational environs.

AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS) affirmed that the university has made notable progress in implementing NEP-2020, signifying a milestone in its educational pursuits. It has established a dedicated NEP Cell and National Academic Depository (NAD) Cell, to ensure the effective execution of NEP-2020 initiatives within the institution.

In his introductory speech, Prof. M.M. Sufiyan Beg, the Principal, ZHCET, provided a concise overview of AMU and articulated the university’s vision for NEP-2020.
