NCC Girls Battalion, GCW Udhampur commemorate International Plastic Bag Free Day

 

Udhampur: To commemorate International Plastic Bag Free Day, National Cadet Corps (NCC) 1stJ&K Girls Battalion, Srinagar of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized online painting competition on the theme ‘No Use of Plastic’ here today.

The programme was organized under the supervision of College Principal, Prof. Minu Mahajan.

The Principal encouraged the cadets to participate in such awareness activities. She stressed on promotion of the use of eco-friendly items such as paper bags or cloth bags instead of plastic bags and get rid of the single-use plastic bags. Aware everyone with the message that how the use of plastic would be harmful for both human beings and our environment, She added.

Earlier, Associate NCC, Officer, Shallu Jasrotia gave a brief resume of the activities being carried out by the 1st J&K girls battalion GCW Udhampur from time to time. She also highlighted various ill effects of the use of plastic and spread awareness to get rid from the growing increase of plastic use in our society.

The NCC Cadets of 1stJ&K Girls Battalion GCW Udhampur participated with great enthusiasm in the competition.

Dr. Seema Sharma, HOD Music and Dr. Kewal Kumar, Assistant Prof. of Botany acted as judges.

While speaking on the event, Judges appreciated the thought process of the cadets, who painted their ideas and vision in various colors.

The first position was bagged by Cadet Kajul Devi of Semester 2nd, second position was shared by Cadet Anu Devi and Cadet Eknoor Kour both of Semester 2nd and third position was shared by Cadet Mancy Mehra and Cadet Tanvi Sharma both of Semester 2nd. The consolation certificates were also shared by Cadet Vaishali Thapa and Cadet Rashmi Devi both of Semester 2nd.

Later, the 1st J&K Girls Battalion GCW Udhampur were also distributed e-Certificates among the winners in the painting competition.
