NCPA@home presents ‘Charishnu: The Desire to Move’

New Delhi: This weekend, the NCPA@home series brings you a spectacular multi dance style presentation from its archives, ‘Charishnu – The Desire to Move’ on Sunday, 3rd May 2020 at 6 pm, on the NCPA Youtube channel.

The presentation was performed at the NCPA in August 2019 in collaboration with Sahachari Foundation.

Charishnu literally means ‘the desire to move’. This presentation features 50 dancers showcasing a selection of classical, folk and martial dance forms of India, along with an ensemble of drums from different parts of the country. Aditi Mangaldas (Kathak), Aruna Mohanty (Odissi), Priti Patel (Manipuri), Sadanam Balakrishnan (Kathakali and Mohiniattam), Imocha Singh (Thang-ta), Mahesh Vinayakram (percussion) and Leela Samson (Bharatanatyam) lead their troupes, with each individual dance style in dialogue with the other, and all coming together in a spectacular finale.

With an intent to spread positivity through art in these unprecedented times, India’s premier cultural institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), has introduced an invigorating digital series, ‘NCPA@home’.
