NCPA@HOME presents Raag Shayari: A musical tribute to Kaifi Azmi

India’s premier cultural institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), has introduced an invigorating digital series, ‘NCPA@home’. The series showcase includes exclusive videos and content from across genres. Enjoy the soulful performance with NCPA@HOME as it presents Raag Shayari: A musical tribute to Kaifi Azmi on Friday, 8^th May 2020 – 6 pm on the NCPA YouTube channel.

Raag Shayari was presented by NCPA on 13^th January 2019 to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary poet, writer, and lyricist, Kaifi Azmi. He was a prominent Indian Urdu poet and is remembered as the one who brought Urdu literature to Indian motion pictures.

The digital premiere features internationally acclaimed tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, eminent writer and poet Javed Akhtar, Singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, and renowned actress Shabana Azmi. Two talented young instrumentalists: Purbayan Chatterjee (sitar) and Dilshad Khan (tabla) had provided melodic support.
