Nehru Yuva Kendra organizes ‘Neighbourhood Youth Parliament’ at Baramulla
Baramulla: The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Baramulla today organised a day-long Neighbourhood Youth Parliament programme at Drangbal Block, here.
The main objective of the programme was to create an institutional platform right up to the village level, where the youth can articulate their views on various issues and draw the attention of the local administration to such issues/ concerns affecting their lives.
Secondly it was to develop a platform of youth clubs further in the shape of vibrant ‘Neighbourhood Youth Parliament’ so as to educate the youth club members about contemporary socio-economic development issues confronting local communities in general and the youth in particular and to involve them in debates/ discussions on such issues.
It was also meant to share their experiences and ideas; debate various issues concerning the society and youth in particular by means of neighbourhood youth Parliament in presence of representatives of PRIs, development partners, service providers, village communities and local administration.
The programme was also aimed at strengthening and enhancing the existing network of Youth Clubs and Mahila Mandals with representation from all sections of society.
In all, 04 resource persons delivered lectures on the occasion.
A large number of participants both male and female were present in the said programme besides NYK and Youth Club Members.
