New Building by VKC inaugurated at Cheruvannur Family Health Centre
Kozhikode: The newly constructed building of Cheruvannur- Nallalam Family Health Centre was inaugurated by Veena George, Minister for Health, Women and Child Development, on Thursday. The 5900 sq. ft structure with modern amenities was built by VKC Charitable Foundation at a cost of Rs.1.38 crore for the health center, which was recently upgraded to Family Health Centre. Public Works and Tourism Minister PA Muhammad Riyas presided. The spacious two-storied facility will give a new lease of life to the Family Health Centre, which was reeling under space constraints and inadequate facilities. Former MLA and VKC Charitable Foundation Managing Trustee VKC Mammad Koya, Kozhikode Mayor Dr. Bina Philip, and MK Raghavan MP were the chief guests at the ceremony.
The Kozhikode Corporation constructed the surrounding wall and paved interlock blocks at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. The National Health Mission had also provided Rs 15 lakh for the beautification of the building. Medical equipment and furniture were purchased with a sum of Rs 10 lakh raised by the local public. With the opening of the building, treatment will be available from 9 AM to 6 PM at the health center. A modern laboratory, a lifestyle diagnosis clinic, a mental health clinic and an immunization center will also function here.
District Medical Officer Dr. Rajaram Kizhakkekandiyil presented the report. VKC Razak, Managing Director, VKC Group, Dr. Jayashree S, Chairperson, Health Standing Committee of Kozhikode Corporation, Dr. Arathi P., Medical Officer, FHC, and Dr Anoop T. N., District Program Manager of National Health Mission, also spoke.
