  • RESIDENTS CAN NOW RAISE COMPLAINTS DIGITALLY THROUGH VARSITY’S OFFICIAL MOBILE APP ‘NAMASTE BHU’

VARANASI : In its ongoing efforts to make its administrative processes more responsive, streamlined, and transparent, Banaras Hindu University has made significant progress. The university has introduced an online mechanism to streamline the resolution of complaints related to civil, electrical, and plumbing issues, among others. This feature is integrated into the university’s official mobile application, “Namaste BHU.” Designed to enhance digital connectivity and improve accessibility, the app aims to make university services and information more user-friendly and efficient.

BHU’s University Works Department handles the repair and maintenance of university buildings, hostels, residential areas, and other structures. Previously, complaints had to be submitted physically through written requisitions. With the new online system, residents can now report maintenance issues and track their status at any time. Sh. Manish Yadav, Superintendent Engineer of the University Works Department, highlighted that the app features a mapping tool to efficiently manage and route complaints. Once a complaint is submitted, the relevant official receives an immediate notification on their mobile device via the app, he added.

The app allows users to select a repair slot based on their convenience and availability. They can log in easily using their employee ID. It offers several options for submitting complaints, including civil, electrical, plumbing, and horticulture, with various sub-categories. Additionally, the app features a provision for emergency complaints requiring immediate attention. Future updates will include a hostel complaint mechanism, enabling administrative wardens and wardens to submit issues directly and efficiently.

This initiative aligns with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain’s commitment to enhancing the university’s administrative efficiency and providing a seamless campus experience for students and residents. The UWD app represents a significant advancement in integrating digital technology into university administration, aiming to save time, reduce procedural delays, and boost overall productivity.
