NEW INITIATIVE: INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, BHU, INSTALLS SANITARY PAD VENDING MACHINE

MOVE UNDER THE STUDENT WELL BEING INITIATIVE OF THE INSTITUTE

VARANASI : Considering the hygiene issues associated with menstrual cycle and the frequent problems that girl students could face while attending day-long classes, a sanitary pad vending machine has been installed in the New Lecture Theatre Complex of the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University. This is a first of its kind installation in the BHU Campus and has been done under the Student Well-being Initiative of the Institute of Science, BHU.

The vending machine has two types of sanitary pads that can be purchased by paying Rs 3 and 12 in cash through coins and immediately collecting the sanitary pads. Female committee members of the well-being initiative along with Prof. Nirmala Horo, Secretary, Athletics Association, Institute of Science, and girl students were present at the time of installation and demonstration of this vending machine. Some student volunteers along with Dr. Shikha Singh of the well-being initiative will be involved in the maintenance of the machine which will always be available to girl students for emergency purchase of sanitary pads while attending classes.
