Gannon understands the importance of access to art for the community and opened that door for its students and employees through a new partnership with the Erie Art Museum.

Through this partnership, all Gannon students, faculty and staff now have free admission into the museum with a current university ID. They may also enjoy member discount rates for a variety of events and classes hosted there, including Art After Dark and Gallery Nights.
Gannon is immersed in the Erie community in so many ways that the university found it fitting for this partnership to enrich that immersion even further.

“The free admission and discounted programming for our Gannon community that this partnership provides speaks to the university’s efforts toward equitable access of resources and experiences, and it also brings our Mission and our purpose to life,” said Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., provost and vice president for student experience at Gannon University. “Partnerships like this make Erie an even stronger place to live, work, play and learn.”

A staple of downtown Erie, the Erie Art Museum offers significant value through cultural enrichment, art education and programming, and simply being a creative hub of expression and engagement. Opportunities for internships and volunteering at the Museum are now even easier for Gannon students to access through the partnership.

Madison Maurice, a senior digital media and advertising student who is working with the museum through her marketing campaigns class, commented on just how valuable this partnership is for students.

“These experiences I’ve gained now amplified by this exceptional opportunity for Gannon students to visit the Erie Art Museum will inspire and motivate content creation all over campus by me and my peers for years to come.”

Gannon and the Erie Art Museum encourage members of the Gannon community to take advantage of visiting the museum and engaging in the resources it has to offer.

“We hope that by being open to Gannon’s students, faculty and staff that we are helping to foster a culture that cares and provides a sense of belonging, connectedness and appreciation of our place in this world,” says Laura Domencic, executive director of the Erie Art Museum.
