New Principal, AKTC

Aligarh : Professor Shagufta Aleem, Department of Amraze Jild wa Zohrawiya, has been appointed as the Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The order to this effect was issued here on Tuesday, August 31.

A distinguished academician, Prof Shagufta has over 30 years of teaching and clinical experience. She has served as the Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Chairperson of the Department of Amraze Jild wa Zohrawiya for two terms.

On the virtue of seniority, Prof Shagufta has also been a member of the AMU Court, Executive Council and Academic Council.

Her vast academic experience also includes working as the Officiating Vice Chancellor in July 2012.

Prof Shagufta is a member of the Governing body, CCIM, Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She has been a member of Central Council of Indian Medicine (Unani); Chairperson, Education Committee, Central Council of Indian Medicine; Vice President, Central Council of Indian Medicine (Unani); Chairman, Executive Committee, Central Council of Indian Medicine and member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Unimed Kulliyat among other important positions.

Prof Shagufta has authored three acclaimed Unani medicine books on Moelejat and Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawia and published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. Her fourth book on Cosmetology is under publication.

She is the editor in-chief of UNI-MEDICUS.
