New World Record Created; 440 Children gather together for the largest Keyboard concert

New Delhi: A new World Record for the largest Keyboard Ensemble was created on the World Labour Day – May 01, 2017 (Monday), here in Chennai where 440 plus Children participated. The previous record for the largest keyboard concert was done by 400 participants.

On Monday morning, St. Bedes Centenary Auditorium, Santhome was bustled with young musicians in the age of 7 to 17 years from all over Tamil Nadu, to create a new World Record. The concert was to spread awareness on child labour.

“Stop Child Labour Awareness Mega Keyboard Concert” is conducted by Isaimaamani M.S Martin on behalf of “Melliflous Melodies on Keyboard” and “Madhuradhwani Sangeetha Sabha” – a Sabha exclusively for talents in instrumental music.

The children at the concert played Patriotic Songs like Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram, Thai Manne Vanakkam, Acham Acham Illai etc.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Martin said, “We have successfully conducted two recognised Guinness World record events – the largest electronic keyboard ensemble, in the past. In the year 2011, it was carried out by 109 children at Music academy promoting Carnatic Music and the next witnessed 229 children who performed for “World Peace” on January 16, 2014 at the Chennai Trade Centre. These events were widely applauded by media, critics and Music legends alike for its perfection. In 2009, we conducted the first largest keyboard ensemble with our students of Mellifluous Melodies on Keyboard at Naradhagana Sabha along with 75 children.”

He adds, “As a special feature of the concert, this time visually challenged kids from St. Louis School for deaf and blind have also participated along with economically challenged students from aided schools, for the kids who have big dreams but are bonded in labour, on this “World Labour day”. This concert is a sincere effort from our team of young keyboard musicians, parents and schools to infuse social awareness in young children in the form of Music.”

A special adjudicator Mr. Vivek from Asia book of records was present at the event and gave away the official certificate for the record.

Dr. S. Vijaya Raghavan, Head of Department, Music Department, Tamilnadu Government Music college, M. B. Kripakar, Partner Sankaran &S undar, Chartered Accountant, Dr. D. Jagannathan, IAS, Director of Museums and Commissioner of Art and Culture, Mr. K. Kannapan, Director, School Education, Mr. P. A. Naresh, Joint Director, School Education, Govt. of TN and Fr. Don Bosco SDB, Rector and Correspondent, St. Bede’s School, were also present.
