New York University Appoints New Vice President Of Government Relations And Community Engagement

Kyle Kimball, who is currently Con Edison’s Vice President for Government Relations, Regional and Community Affairs, and who previously served as President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, has been named as NYU’s Vice President of Government Relations and Community Engagement, effective August 1, 2023.

In this role, Kimball will oversee NYU’s government and community relations team; serve as the University’s chief strategist and advisor on the University’s relationship with government entities; and act as the representative to the many civic organizations, boards, city-wide non-profits, and community organizations with which NYU partners.

He brings a long history of involvement with the City and some of its most important issues and initiatives; a deep understanding of how institutions and government can constructively partner with one another; extensive involvement in civic organizations; and a committed belief in the importance of community stakeholder engagement. We are so glad to have him.”
Since 2015, Kyle Kimball has been the Vice President for Government Relations, Regional and Community Affairs at Con Edison, where he focused on the development of the company’s commitments to deliver the clean energy transition, the infrastructure investments aimed at climate change resiliency and adaptation, and outreach to governmental and community stakeholders across New York City, Westchester, and Orange and Rockland Counties.
From 2013-2015, he served as the President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), where he oversaw many economic transformation projects including the acquisition and development of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Governors Island, and NYU’s own Center for Urban Science and Progress in Downtown Brooklyn. He previously served at EDC as the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer and before that as Executive Vice President and Division Head for Real Estate. Prior to joining EDC, Kimball worked in investment banking for both JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs.
He is a member or serves on the board of many civic organizations, including the NY State Regional Economic Development Council, the NYC Climate Advisory Board, the NYC Sustainability Advisory Board, the NYC Offshore Wind Advisory Council, the Governors Island Climate Center Advisory Committee, the Regional Plan Association, the Center For An Urban Future, and the Prospect Park Alliance.
Kimball earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School. In 2018, Kimball completed the LGBTQ Executive Leadership Program at Stanford Business School.
