New York University: “Crossing Boundaries” Webinar to Feature Lewis & Clark Professor Pamela Frasch on the Animal Law Education Movement—Oct. 8

New York University will host “Crossing Boundaries: The Critical Need for Global Animal Law Education,” a webinar featuring Lewis & Clark Law School Professor Pamela Frasch, who will discuss the past, present, and future of the animal law movement, on Fri., Oct. 8, 2 p.m. EDT.

The pandemic has laid bare the real and present threat of zoonotic disease, as more and more wildlife species are endangered and intensively farmed terrestrial and aquatic animals are being consumed at ever-increasing numbers.

Practitioners argue that animal law has the power to make systemic change for large numbers of animals and humans. The discipline has historically been viewed as an outlier subject within the academy–but some see a growing acceptance at colleges and universities.

In her presentation, Frasch, Brooks McCormick, Jr. Scholar of Animal Law and Policy at Oregon’s Lewis & Clark College and founder of the Center for Animal Law Studies, will explore both the roots and the present-day challenges of the animal law education movement.

Frash is the co-author of Animal Law: Cases and Materials (Carolina Academic Press) and Animal Law in a Nutshell, now in its third edition (Thomson West), among other works.
