New York University: “Music, Health, and Healing” to Orchestrate Therapy, Neuroscience, and Performance–May 6 Webinar

“Music, Health, and Healing,” a webinar featuring experts in the areas of music therapy and neuroscience, along with acclaimed solo violinist and composer Ittai Shapira, will explore the curing power of music, on Thurs., May 6, 2:30 to 4 p.m. EDT.

NYU neuroscientist Joseph LeDoux, author of Anxious: Using the Brain to Understand and Treat Fear and Anxiety and The Deep History of Ourselves: The Four-Billion-Year Story of How We Got Conscious Brains, will converse with Concetta Tomaino, a music therapy pioneer and co-founder and executive director of the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function, and Ittai Shapira, founder and artistic director of Sound Potential, on how music can heal us as individuals and as a society.

They will be joined by event discussants Catherine Hartley, an associate professor of psychology and neuroscience at NYU, Pablo Ripollés, an assistant professor in NYU’s Department of Psychology and NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, and Claire Pelofi, a research scientist in NYU’s Department of Psychology.
