New York University Study Explores ‘How To Be Disabled In A Pandemic’

For over two years, researchers in NYU’s Center for Disability Studies have been gathering stories about the experiences of disabled people during the pandemic through an NSF-funded project called the Disability COVID Chronicles. Disabled people, especially people of color and those living in nursing homes or other congregate housing, have been at greatest risk of infection and death from COVID-19, and the work focuses on disability communities that have been disproportionately impacted by city and national policies, work and housing conditions, stigma, racism, and violence as much as the virus itself.
