NIFTEM-Kundli started its second edition of the Training Cum Internship Programme on Food Technology Entrepreneurship Development at its lush green campus

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K) under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has launched its second Training cum Internship Programme on Food Technology Entrepreneurship Development on July 1, 2024. This four-week programme aims to enhance the technical competency of undergraduate students in Food Technology, Food Engineering, and related fields.

Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Director NIFTEM-K emphasized that the programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial applications. The curriculum prepares trainees for roles in the production of baked, extruded, frozen, dairy, and meat products and beverages, while focusing on value addition, shelf-life extension, and packaging innovations.

The first edition, held from June 3 to June 30, 2024, featured hands-on practicals at NIFTEM-K’s pilot plants and labs, production techniques, and professional lectures on non-thermal processing, cold chain logistics, packaging, labelling, branding, regulations, and food safety. Trainees also benefited from industry exposure visits and interactive sessions on innovation, incubation, start-up development, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Prasanna, the programme coordinator, highlighted the significance of this initiative for UG and PG students from various colleges and universities. This programme is crucial for enhancing their expertise and entrepreneurial skills, driving innovation and growth in the food processing sector.
