Nikon Rejoices the Photography Culture with 38th Edition of Nikon Photo Contest

New Delhi: Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation Tokyo, is proud to announce the commencement of the Nikon Photo Contest 2020-2021.

The Nikon Photo Contest is a premier and one of the largest photo contests across the globe. Started in 1969, this international contest provides a platform for photographers to express their creativity to the world, enriching the image-making culture for professionals and amateurs alike.

To date, more than 440,000 photographers have participated and submitted over 1.71 million photographic works for the Contest, making it a truly international event. The last year’s contest witnessed 30% participation from India.

The previous edition, also marked as the contest’s 50th anniversary, roughly witnessed participation from 33,000 photographers across 170 countries and regions, submitting a total of 97,369 entries. It was a tremendous success with the highest number of applicants and entries ever.

Elaborating on the announcement, Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director, Nikon India, said “We, at Nikon believe that photography is an art that needs to be celebrated, cherished and nurtured. Aimed at encouraging photographers & videographers to share their creativity through persuasive and impactful images and videos the contest is focused on providing a platform to showcase the work of participants from different walks of life. Over the years, the Nikon Photo Contest has played a pivotal role in not only celebrating the photography culture, but also providing a platform for budding enthusiasts as well as professional photographers to showcase their work.”

He further added “We witnessed an overwhelming response from photographers & videographers across genres and categories who participated with great vigour in the competition, unleashing a world full of memories and stories to treasure. We are proud to recognize the efforts of photography enthusiasts witnessed at the Nikon Photo Contest across the world. It also gives us immense joy to see that some of the emerging talent from last editions have been from India itself and in the last edition 4 winners were from India. Our focus at Nikon, remains on providing a platform to important stories through the common language of imaging- not only in India but across the globe.”
