Nine-day ‘Life Skills Training Program’ at AMU

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students from across various disciplines are attending the nine-day, ‘Life Skills Training Program’ of the Training and Placement Office (General) to increase the extent of their competencies in behavioral, cognitive, social, intrapersonal and corporate life skills.

Organised under the collaboration of the Rubicon Foundation, the programme is presented by the Barclays Corporate Communications.

“Competency-based learning facilitates career development and since there’s a great emphasis on mastering skills than merely completing an academic program, students need to channel their attention into perfecting competencies and becoming employable”, said Dr Jahangir Alam (Assistant Training and Placement Officer-General).

He added: “Life skills training programs are designed to develop and enhance the skills of students and prepare them for jobs”.

Speaking on the objectives of the training program, Dr Muzamil Mushtaq (Assistant Training and Placement Officer-General) urged students to hone their communication skills, teamwork understanding, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving abilities.

He spoke on the significance of collaboration with alumni and pointed out that the presentations conducted by experienced trainers in the nine-day program will brush up the understanding of students in organisational structures, public speaking, presentation skills and communications etiquette among other topics.
