NITCO imparts training to Mason community under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) programme

Mumbai : In order to support growth infrastructure, NITCO, a leading interior brand and surface designing company, has stepped in to develop and improve skills, build livelihood, and create opportunities for Masons across the country via a certified training program. The company, which is known for its range of world-class tiles, launched a training programme called ‘Mason Tiling’ to upgrade the knowledge of the Mason community working in the building material sector.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) programme, NITCO in association with Learnet Skills Limited, the largest vocational skills company in the country, undertook a two-day workshop at Tonk in Rajasthan, in order to build expertise and professional competency among the Mason community. The training aimed at enabling experienced Masons to become Trainers who can further conduct the Mason Tiling program in Tonk going forward. It was attended by 24 masons between the age group of 35 to 50 years, with an experience of over 15 years.

The Masons benefited from this training programme as NITCO experts provided them with the knowledge about the basics of tiles, types of tiles, raw materials used in tiles, tile manufacturing processes, tile specifications and usage of tiles. On the second day of the training, the Masons were taken through the actual laying of tiles and were allowed to do it by themselves in the open lab.

Subsequent training programmes for Masons are planned at Dattalur in Andhra Pradesh and Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. NITCO will also carry out more such training programmes across the country over a period of time.

Vivek Talwar, MD, NITCO Ltd, said, “We are pleased to associate with Learnet under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) programme. This training programme was very successful and well received, as the masons, who are the key segment in building material work, benefitted from the knowledge shared by our experts from the basics of tiles to specification and usage of tiles. We want more people to benefit from this and take advantage of such programmes to upgrade their skills. Our endeavour is to reach out to the larger community across India and build an army of well trained, professional and certified Masons. We will carry out more training programs in several parts of the country.”
